Two Businesses Facing Fines from Employing Illegal Workers

Two businesses in the North East are facing fines as a result of employing illegal workers. Acting on intelligence received the Home Office UK Border Agency visited both the New Orient Express Takeaway in Stakeford and the Lin Jun Chinese Takeaway in Blyth on January 22nd and questioned staff to ascertain whether or not they held UK Visas.

Tier 2 Visa Changes

Changes to the UK’s immigration rules have recently been introduced by the UK’s immigration minister Mark Harper. These changes have been implemented in a bid to make the UK a more attractive destination for international business. In addition he also announced measures designed to attract more international students to the UK.

Is your UK Visa up to date?

Further raids by the UKBA (UK Border Agency) in Surrey have resulted in 5 more illegal workers being arrested. Acting on intelligence, the officers visited Meghalaya Indian Restaurant in High Street, Cranleigh before moving onto Guildford, visiting Merrow Dynasty Indian Restaurant and Perfect Pizza, both on Epsom Road. These raids were carried out on Thursday 2 January and is the latest in similar raids being carried out on businesses within Surrey.
