From 13th April 2023, the Start-up route is only available to those who already hold a valid start-up endorsement.

Those with endorsement have until 13th July 2023 to apply for their visa under this route.

Individuals looking to start a business in the UK should now look at the new Innovator Founder visa. Existing Start-up visa-holders may be able to switch to the innovator founder route if they qualify.

The UK Start-up Visa was introduced to support talented overseas individuals with innovative, viable, and scalable business ideas, allowing them to develop and work on their businesses in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria for the Start-up Visa UK

Requirements for applicants: Applicants must be aged 18 or over and should be establishing a UK-based business for the first time.

Qualifications and experience needed: The business idea must be endorsed by an eligible UK endorsing body, ensuring it meets the criteria of being innovative, viable, and scalable.

Evaluation process: The endorsing body assesses the business idea, and applicants must also demonstrate their intention to spend most of their time working on the business in the UK.
