Creative Worker Visa

The Creative Worker Visa is an incredible opportunity for individuals who have a burning desire to work in the dynamic and thriving creative industries of the United Kingdom. Replacing the former Temporary Worker – Creative and Sporting Visa (Tier 5), this new visa offers a chance to stay in the vibrant UK for a period of up to 24 months, exclusively engaging in permitted creative work that aligns with your passion and expertise. It is important to note, however, that this visa does not grant indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Creative Worker Visa, you must have received an enticing offer for an eligible role within the UK's creative sector. Additionally, you must meet all the necessary visa eligibility requirements, ensuring that you possess the skills and experience required to contribute uniquely to the UK's labour market.

Furthermore, you must secure a Certificate of Sponsorship from a valid sponsor, guaranteeing your sponsorship during your stay. In terms of financial security, you must be paid at least the minimum salary set by esteemed trade bodies such as Equity, PACT, or BECTU. Moreover, you must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support yourself, with a minimum of £1,270 at your disposal.

To achieve a successful application,  you must be issued a valid Certificate of Sponsorship, which will grant you 30 points. Additionally, you must provide evidence that you meet the maintenance (financial) requirement, which will earn you an additional 10 points.

Required Documents

When applying for the Creative Worker Visa, it is vital to ensure that you have all the necessary documents prepared. These include your Certificate of Sponsorship reference number, a valid passport or travel document, proof of sufficient savings to maintain yourself during your time in the UK, tuberculosis test results (if relevant), and certified translations of any documents not in English.

Application Process

To initiate your application, it is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the Home Office's comprehensive applicant guidance. The next step involves applying on the GOV.UK website, specifically in the temporary work visa section. As part of the application process, you will be required to submit proof of your identity by providing your biometric information. Additionally, you must gather all the relevant supporting documents and submit them along with your online application. Following this, all that is left is to patiently wait for a decision on your visa application.

Fees

To obtain the Creative Worker Visa, there are certain fees to be paid. The visa application fee for the main applicant and any dependents is £259. Furthermore, it is essential to have a minimum of £1,270 available to you in the 28 days preceding your visa application to cover maintenance costs.

Extending the Visa

If you meet the eligibility criteria, it is possible to extend your Creative Worker Visa. However, it is important to note that you must be present in the UK while applying for the extension.

Switching to Creative Worker Visa

Under certain conditions, it is possible to switch to the Creative Worker Visa. To be eligible for this switch, you must be in the UK on a Standard Visitor Visa or Permitted Paid Engagement.

Dependants

If you are in a committed relationship with your partner, they, along with your children, have the opportunity to join you in the UK. However, it is necessary to submit separate applications for each dependant and provide evidence of your committed relationship.

We hope that this information has provided you with a comprehensive understanding of the Creative Worker Visa and the various aspects surrounding it. The UK's creative industries eagerly await your contributions, and we are excited to welcome you to this vibrant and diverse community.
