Our Guidance On UK Government Authorised Exchange Scheme

Designed to facilitate international collaboration and cultural exchange the GAE schemes enable migrants to come to the UK to undertake training and work experience, but not to carry out a specific role or work.

To ensure this is the case, there are sixty approved scheme owners who agree with the employer the terms and conditions of this temporary placement or internship, and issue a Tier 5 GAE Certificate of Sponsorship to the individual – in other words the employer does not sponsor the individuals directly.
