Exciting Transformation: Welcome to the Immigration Advice Authority!
Today marks a significant milestone in the journey of immigration advice in the UK. The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) has officially rebranded itself as the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA). This transformation goes beyond a mere name change; it symbolises a renewed commitment to providing high-quality, accessible immigration advice for those who need it most.
As the IAA, we will oversee a network of over 3,700 immigration advisers and 2,000 organisations, ensuring that individuals and families receive guidance from qualified professionals. Our primary mission is to protect vulnerable individuals from unregulated advisers while promoting high standards and integrity within the immigration advice sector.
John Tuckett, the Immigration Services Commissioner, shared insights on this transformation, stating, "This evolution keeps advice seekers at the heart of everything we do. We are enhancing our services and taking a more robust approach to regulation. Our goal is to disrupt illegal advice-giving activities and support the development of the sector in collaboration with our partners."
The IAA has set forth an ambitious corporate plan for 2025-2027, which outlines four key aims that will guide our efforts:
- Timely and Reliable Advice: We are dedicated to ensuring that individuals receive prompt and reliable immigration advice from regulated professionals.
- Disruption of Illegal Activities: We will actively work to disrupt and prosecute illegal advice-giving activities that undermine the integrity of the immigration system.
- Public Awareness: Increasing public awareness about the importance of accessing regulated advice and the risks associated with unregulated services is a top priority.
- Transformation Program: We are committed to modernising our processes, infrastructure, and organisational culture to better serve our community.
The IAA is also exploring a new funding model in conjunction with these objectives. This will be developed in consultation with Ministers and Home Office officials to ensure sustainability and efficiency. In the short term, we will focus on modernising and automating our processes, which will allow us to reinvest savings into our staff and services.

This is an exciting time for the IAA, and we are eager to embark on this journey towards enhancing the quality and accessibility of immigration advice across the UK. Together, we can make a difference for those seeking guidance in navigating the complexities of the immigration system.
