Statement of Changes
Are you curious about the latest updates to the Skilled Worker route and the minimum income requirement for partner routes?
Well, mark your calendars because these changes will take effect from the 4th April 2024!
To give you a quick rundown, the changes to the Skilled Worker route aim to ensure that businesses invest in the resident workforce and bring salaries in line with the average full-time salary for eligible jobs. Sponsoring employers must pay Skilled Workers at least a general salary threshold or the going rate for the individual occupation, whichever is higher. The general salary threshold is set to increase from £26,200 to £38,700 based on the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) pay data.
Meanwhile, the minimum income requirement for five-year Partner route applicants will increase to £29,000, and the income requirement for child dependents will be removed. These changes aim to make sure that families will make a net positive impact on the economy and contribute to lowering net migration.
Lastly, changes to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) will expand the immediate settlement provisions to include a spouse, civil partner, or durable partner with pre-settled status under the EUSS. These changes will allow them to obtain leave outside the rules with access to the Migrant Victims of Domestic Abuse Concession.
